Quilt Tops & Crochet

My first quilt top, which was the first "Scrap Lab" offered by Fig Tree is finished! Now to buy a thin batt and umn, quilt it. Yikes. This is supposed to be "turned" (like a pillow) rather than have a binding.

At last I let myself try out making a few crochet edgings from a book I got a few Christmases ago. These have yet to be blocked. I love white crochet. :) So reminds me of eyelet lace.

From the Bay of Evil, a rare treat for me~

This is an animation cel of the cat Luna from the Sailor Moon anime. I just love it. I can't recall the last time I bought a piece of original art--FAR TOO LONG.

The cel is only the black cat; the other elements are on heavy stock and behind the cel.

I'm so glad I treated myself, something I NEVER do. :)

Another Spring treat I forgot to show you last time; this is an avocado milkshake from the Vietnamese restaurant up the street. It may sound crazy, but if you love vanilla milkshake you'll at least like this!

This shot *almost* captures the soft green color.

In other news the model for my first design is ALL FINISHED all that remains is to wrangle my working draft into something publishable. From my experience with MacStitch 2009, I would advise any interested party to never buy ANY iteration of that software. Not entirely objective considering I've only used one version, but there it stands.

I love your quilt! Berit, it is beautiful. I'm sure you will get on fine with the quilting. Being turned sounds easier than having to bind it. Have faith!
Lovely crochet trim too. You are a very talented lady! Just wondering how long each one took to make? They look very intricate.
And good for you, getting yourself a couple of treats.
Very cute cat :-)

That cel is adorable. Love the little moon on the cat's head.

The quilt top is so pretty and sounds relatively simple to finish. I can't wait to see it. I love the crochet! I'm kind of skeptical about that avocado shake, though. ;)

Your very first quilt top is gorgeous Berit and oh, those crocheted edgings are amazing. I would love to learn how to do that. Did you teach yourself? I just love how dainty and pretty they are...

I'm glad you treated yourself--we all need to do that once in a while. It felt good to get the cel from Ebay, didn't it :) Very cute!!

You're a lady of many talents Berit...quilting, crochet, cross stitch...the list is endless! Do you have any more crafty talents up your sleeve?!

I love your latest purchase. It's so nice to treat oneself every now and again. I really like the artist Mackenzie Thorpe and every year I treat myself to one of his limited editions (my last purchase was from the bay of evil too!). Yes, they're expensive, but I'd much rather have one piece of original art, than 10 mass produced pieces. (such a snob - I know!)

OH, Berit! I'm so far behind in blog browsing, and I see you are way ahead of me! Your quilt top is absolutely beautiful! I must look further into that pattern. I love the more simple quilts, and the fabrics, of course, are perfect. Your crocheting is also beautiful. Love the art work! I could even down that shake. :)
